Santa Catalina

Sa Caterina wines, olive oil and visits to a historic finca in Menorca.

A historic finca in Mahón.

The estate

A family wine estate in Menorca, Santa Catalina is set within a historic finca dating back to 1854. Acquired in 2016 by the François family, the estate has been restored with respect for Menorca’s rural heritage, including its buildings, former stables, cowshed and dry-stone walls.

Once the finca had been restored, the land gradually returned to its agricultural vocation. The first vines were planted in 2019, followed by a first family harvest in 2023 and the first bottles released in 2024.

Santa Catalina is the name of the estate; Sa Caterina is the signature of the wines and olive oils produced at the finca.

The vineyard

A plateau set slightly back from the sea.

The vineyard lies on a plateau set slightly inland from the sea, in a landscape shaped by dry stone, clay, limestone and light. The maritime influence, the winds and the nature of the soils give the site a distinctly Menorcan identity.

This environment shapes a careful, human-scale approach to winegrowing, designed to preserve the freshness of the wines and the character of the landscape.

Santa Catalina produces wines under the IGP Vi de la Terra — Illa de Menorca designation, with vines cultivated through a reasoned and respectful approach.

The land

A working agricultural estate above all.

Around the finca, twelve hectares of vines and three hectares of olive trees form an agricultural estate conceived at the scale of the place. Vines, olives, stone and limestone soils come together as a single landscape, cultivated with restraint to preserve its natural balance.

The soil

A clay-limestone soil, carefully prepared before planting, where local stone remains a defining presence. A sober, mineral soil, characteristic of inland Menorca.

The vines

Twelve hectares of vines planted with Malvasia, Chardonnay, Macabeo, Prensal, Muscat, Syrah and Monastrell, cultivated through a reasoned approach.

The water

The estate relies on water from its own well, controlled irrigation and solar panels dedicated to powering the pumps, as part of a measured approach to resource management.

The olives

Three hectares of Arbequina and Picual olive trees complete the estate. Sa Caterina olive oil has been certified organic since 2025.

The wines

The Sa Caterina range brings together whites, rosés, reds and singular cuvées, made from grape varieties grown on the estate. Each wine offers a different interpretation of the place: the freshness of stainless steel, the depth of ageing, the texture of Brisat or the contrast of Blanc de Noir.

Sa Caterina Blanco

Art and bottle

A visual identity born with the estate.

On the bottles as on the façade of the bodega, the drawing creates an immediate presence: a free line, bold bunches of grapes, a distinctive colour and a contemporary signature.

The labels signed by Claude Como accompany the birth of Sa Caterina with a singular artistic expression, equally at home in the shop, in the cellar or on a restaurant table.

The place

The façade of the bodega extends the identity of the bottles into the visitor and reception space.

The line

Grapes, free lines and colour create a recognisable presence, without excess or folklore.

The artist

Claude Como’s creations accompany the birth of the Sa Caterina brand and strengthen its contemporary identity.

Olive oil

Arbequina and Picual, two expressions of the estate.

Alongside the vines, Santa Catalina cultivates three hectares of Arbequina and Picual olive trees. Produced in limited quantities, Sa Caterina olive oil extends the estate’s agricultural work through a more vegetal expression, combining softness, structure and Mediterranean character. Certified organic since 2025.

Olive oil · Organic

Arbequina

A soft, fine and elegant oil, appreciated for its delicate fruitiness. It enhances dishes without overpowering them and naturally suits salads, vegetables, fish and Mediterranean preparations.

Soft, round, delicate

Picual

A more structured oil with a more assertive character. It is well suited to warm dishes, grilled vegetables and preparations that call for greater presence.
